The digital imaging category was highlighted across the International CES show floor scattered across TechZones and exhibitors booths. Here are some of the ways digital imaging was displayed at the show including sessions, product announcements and contests.

PMA@CES Returns

Back for its second year, PMA@CES made a splash in The LVH (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton) as the place for the most-concentrated exhibits of digital imaging/photography products and services.

Beyond the innovative digital imaging technologies on display across this TechZone, two conference tracks covered retail strategy and technology trends, providing a crystal clear picture of future opportunities for digital imaging. Highlights included conversations such as Jeff Cable’s SPAA conference discussion of his preferred tactics and methods for shooting sporting events – including the 2008, 2010 and 2012 Olympics.

One place the retail environment for digital imaging was discussed was the PMA 3 session, “The Changing Retail Landscape Presents Opportunities in Imaging.”  The session featured Liz Cutting, director and imaging analyst, The NPD Group and John Swainston, managing director, Maxwell International Australia.

will.i.am Releases Digital Imaging Accessory

Late last December in 2012, will.i.am – multi-Grammy award winner and founding member of The Black Eyed Peas – launched the foto.sosho brand alongside former CEO of Fusion Garage, Chandra Rathakrishnanon. Under will.i.am’s new startup company, i.am+, the app/accessory combo was launched for the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5. The attachment clips onto an iPhone to offer photo filters, image editing and instant social media uploads. “The reason why I wanted to do cameras is because I’m in front of a camera more than I am in front of a microphone,” will.i.am told CEA’s I3 magazine.

Best Shots Contest

Finally, On January 11, 2013, CEA announced the winners of its Best Shots contest, present in partnership with Eye-Fi. This contest awarded ten talented contestants with prizes ranging from digital cameras to wireless memory cards. One grand prize was awarded along with four top prizes (one for each of four separate categories) and five honorable mention prizes. In addition, all photo entries were on display across the PMA@CES exhibits. To see the winners, their prizes, and most importantly – their photography skills, visit the Best Shots page on the CEA website.
