No visit to Shanghai is complete without a stroll along the Bund.  The historic French Concession is roughly a 10 sq km area in downtown Shanghai. From the mid-1800s to 1930s, this tree-lined area was preferred by the nouveaux riches of all nationalities.

Optional Off-site Activity - Tour of Old Town and Yu Garden

The Old Town lies at the very center of the story of Shanghai, since this is the heart around which modern Shanghai has grown. Yu Garden lends its name to the entire Old City area and offers a peaceful escape from the flux and flurry of the area outside. It is the only complete example of an ancient Chinese garden in Shanghai.

Optional Excursion - Zhujiajiao Water Village and Silk Factory
9 AM-3:30 PM Zhujiajiao Water Village,

Forty-five minutes away from Shanghai stands Zhujiajiao Water Village, a perfect example of traditional Chinese living. Take a Chinese fishing boat and shop along North Street, the 500 year old Fair Market. Visit an 80 year old silk factory to experience the manufacturing of this important trade in both Chinese history and today.
