Consumer Electronics Association Urges Congress to Create New Jobs by Passing the StartUp ...
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today applauded Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and Richard Lugar (R-IN) for introducing the StartUp Visa Act of 2010 and urge Congress to take action toward quick passage. This bipartisan legislation would create thousands of new jobs and spur innovation in the United States by creating a new visa category for immigrant entrepreneurs called EB-6. Entrepreneurs would qualify after proving they have raised $250,000 from a recognized venture capital firm in the U.S.

CEA URGES REAUTHORIZATION OF U.S.-MEXICO TRUCKING PROGRAM
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today urged Congress to reauthorize an agreement allowing Mexican long-haul trucks to enter the United States for purposes of international trade. A year ago today, Congress voted to cancel funding for the NAFTA cross-border trucking program set up under the Bush administration despite its measurable success. As a result of Congress terminating the trade program, the Mexican government has imposed tariffs on U.S.-produced goods totaling $2.4 billion.

CEA GRANTED EXCLUSIVE "WORLD TRADE CENTER LAS VEGAS" TRADEMARK
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today announced that it has obtained the rights for the "World Trade Center, Las Vegas" trademark from the World Trade Centers Association. The World Trade Centers Association, which owns the "World Trade Center" (WTC) names and includes nearly 300 WTCs in almost 100 countries, granted CEA the exclusive Las Vegas rights after reviewing CEA's application and plans to enhance business and international trade in Las Vegas. CEA will be working with the Las Vegas business community to develop and deploy this recognized brand on an appropriate location in Las Vegas.
