Pat Quinn’s veto of House Bill 4075, also known as “The Uber Bill,” and House Bill 5331: “We applaud Governor Quinn’s decision to support innovation and competition, and give the people of Illinois the transportation choices they deserve. By recognizing the value of innovators such as Uber and Lyft, the governor is protecting existing jobs and creating new employment opportunities for the state. House Bills 4075 and 5331 were misguided attempts to protect entrenched taxi monopolies, which would have driven up transportation costs and hurt Illinois’ economy."
