Arlington, VA – 02/09/2012 – The
Consumer Electronics Association® (CEA), today issued the following statement regarding a Feb. 7 letter from The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
“CEA shares the NTSB’s desire to increase automotive safety and help save lives by reducing distracted driving. CEA supports state legislation imposing reasonable limits on the use of in-vehicle electronics to ensure driver safety, and works to educate the public about driver safety (for more details see our 'Safe Driving' tips).
“The private sector is responding to a growing public focus on driver safety. For the last few years, the International CES has featured a Safe Driver TechZone, showcasing exciting new technologies aimed at reducing distraction and improving the safe use of consumer electronics in the vehicle. CEA believes these innovations – and many more yet to come – will help further the cause of safe driving.
“CEA will collect information from our member companies and look forward to responding to this request in a timely manner.”
