CEA Applauds Startup Act 2.0
Arlington, VA – 05/22/2012 – The following statement can be attributed to Michael Petricone, senior vice president of government affairs of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®:
“The Startup Act 2.0 is a package of common sense approaches that will spur innovation, entrepreneurship and job creation. It will allow foreign-born, U.S.-educated immigrants to remain in America and use their training to build businesses and create domestic jobs. It also clears away a variety of anachronistic regulations that have made it difficult for small businesses to expand and thrive.
“Supporting innovation is not a partisan issue – it’s an American priority. This bill is supported by respected, forward-thinking members of Congress from both parties. It is an essential counterpart to the equally bipartisan JOBS Act, which was overwhelmingly passed by the Senate. We urge the Senate to move quickly and enact the Startup Act 2.0.”
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) is the preeminent trade association promoting growth in the $195 billion U.S. consumer electronics industry. More than 2,000 companies enjoy the benefits of CEA membership, including legislative advocacy, market research, technical training and education, industry promotion, standards development and the fostering of business and strategic relationships. CEA also owns and produces the International CES – The Global Stage for Innovation. All profits from CES are reinvested into CEA’s industry services.
