CEA Supports FAA Recommendations to Allow Airline Passengers Expanded In-Flight use of Electronics Devices

Today, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® announced support for a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) advisory committee recommendation that airline passengers be allowed, with limited exceptions, to use typical handheld or lightweight electronics devices – such as tablets and e-readers – at all altitudes of flight on airplanes assessed to be resilient to radio interference. The committee, formally known as the Portable Electronic Devices Aviation Rulemaking Committee (PED ARC), submitted its consensus report to the FAA yesterday. Full Release

CEA Forecasts Total Holiday Retail Sales to Increase 4.0 Percent in 2013

Total retail sales for the November through December holiday sales period are expected to increase by 4.0 percent over last year, reaching $738 billion in total revenue*, according to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® ’s 2013 Holiday Retail Sales Forecast report released today.
