CEA Files Amicus Brief Opposing Hood and MPAA Action Against Google

Today, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® joined the Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA) and Engine in filing an amicus brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, asking the court to affirm the lower court’s injunction against Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood’s investigation against Google. The brief emphasizes state attorneys general cannot supersede the Communications Decency Act and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act by demanding online services suppress third party speech. “Congress deliberately chose to limit the liability of online services for the actions of third party users,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. CEA, CEDIA Announce Software for Architectural Drawing Symbols

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® and the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association’s (CEDIA) R10 Residential Systems committee today announced the availability of software versions of the symbols defined in the publication of ANSI Standard J-STD-710 Audio, Video and Control Architectural Drawing Symbols. This new standard, announced in April, defines a common set of floor plan icons that represents all facets of pre-wire and installation of electronic systems, products and devices in residential and commercial environments.
