CEA and YMI Offer Free Ecycling Materials for Teachers in English and Spanish

In advance of Earth Day on April 22, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® is partnering with Young Minds Inspired to offer free educational materials about electronics recycling to teachers, including the first-ever Spanish-language edition. The lesson plan teaches students in grades 4-6 how “ecycling” — recycling old electronics — can help reduce the environmental impact of their technology choices and promote a more sustainable future. CEA Chairman Adds Six Members to Board of Industry Leaders

Today, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® announced that Daniel Pidgeon, chairman of CEA’s Board of Industry Leaders (BIL) and chairman of Starpower, has appointed six leaders to fill vacancies on the BIL. The BIL serves CEA and its Executive Board in an advisory role, helping to set public policy positions and priorities for association activities. CEA welcomes industry executives from companies across the technology spectrum including Gibson Brands, Ingram Micro, MC10, New Age Electronics, Phone2Action and Warrantech Corp. as new BIL members. Getting Games On The Go: Consumer Interest in Live Sports via Mobile Devices Grows, According to New CEA Study

With the conclusion of the NCAA’s March Madness basketball tournament and the beginning of the 2015 MLB baseball season, more sports fans than ever are interested in watching live games and events via mobile devices. According to the Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA)® Sports and Technology Study, 6th Edition, a third of sports fans (32 percent) report interest in watching sports live on their mobile devices, a significant increase from 2010 (20 percent). CEA Updates CE Industry Revenue Valuation to $286 Billion

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® announced today that it is updating its overall 2015 industry revenue forecast to $286 billion to reflect industry sales to consumers. This new figure represents consumer spending  projected from the $223 billion total industry wholesale revenue announced earlier this year in CEA’s U.S. Consumer Electronics Sales and Forecasts, by accounting for retail margins and additional services. This semi-annual consensus forecast reflects U.S. factory sales to dealers and covers more than 100 consumer electronics (CE) products. Full Release

CEA Encourages Congress to Clarify FCC’s Authority to Preserve an Open and Competitive Internet
