FCC Advanced Communications Rules Compliance Webinar
Beginning Jan. 30, 2013, the recordkeeping and certification requirements in the FCC's accessibility rules governing Advanced Communications Services (ACS) and telecommunications services and equipment will take effect. The new rules will impact manufacturers and service providers. CEA will hold a webinar on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. ET, to help members prepare for the new requirements. Defining Socket Interface to Enable CE Devices to Work with Utility Load Management Systems
CEA’s Modular Communication Interface for Energy Management Subcommittee is working to define the mechanical, electrical and logical characteristics of a socket interface. This will allow devices to work with any load management system through use of a plug-in communication module. This specification also will identify the physical and data link characteristics of the interface, along with certain network and application layer elements. Developing Standard for Measuring Efficiency and Standby Power of Wireless Power Systems

Verizon Chairman and CEO Lowell McAdam to Deliver Keynote Address
Lowell C. McAdam, chairman and chief executive officer of Verizon Communications, will deliver a keynote address at the 2013 International CES. McAdam’s keynote will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the Venetian’s Palazzo ballroom. Lowell McAdam succeeded Ivan Seidenberg as CEO and chairman. He currently oversees operations of Verizon Communications, including all business units and staff functions.

Samsung’s Woo to Deliver Day Two Keynote
Dr. Stephen Woo, president of Samsung Electronics’ Device Solutions, is scheduled to open day two of the 2013 CES, Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at 9 a.m., in The Venetian’s Palazzo Ballroom. Dr. Woo will present his insight on the role of components in enabling consumer product innovations.
