Jorg Brakensiek is an R&D manager at Nokia's Location & Commerce Business Unit, in Sunnyvale, CA. Prior to moving to his new position in August 2012, Brakensiek headed a research team in Nokia's North America Research Laboratory. His research focuses on ubiquitous mobile device interoperability with specific attention to the automotive domain.
He works closely with multiple external partners around the globe in the automotive area. Brakensiek is the original inventor and main technical architect behind MirrorLink™. Brakensiek received his undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Dortmund, Germany in 1994 and 1999 respectively. He then joined Nokia’s Research Center in Germany in 1999, where he worked on various computing architecture projects, including SoC architectures, reconfigurable accelerators, multi-processors and mobile virtualization. As part of his research, he has been involved in the definition and execution of multiple national and European funded research projects in this domain.

Chris Chinnock is the founder and president of Insight Media, a display industry publishing and consulting company he founded in 1998. Insight Media provides technology, market and product intelligence, through monthly and yearly display technology reports, custom consulting, conferences and 3D training and education. Insight Media has a roster of over 1,000 companies that subscribe to various services, including custom consulting, on a worldwide basis. Chinnock takes an active role in all of these activities.

Dean Kamen is an inventor, an entrepreneur, and a tireless advocate for science and technology. His roles as inventor and advocate are intertwined—his own passion for technology and its practical uses has driven his personal determination to spread the word about technology's virtues and by so doing to change the culture of the United States.
As an inventor, he holds more than 440 U.S. and foreign patents, many of them for innovative medical devices that have expanded the frontiers of health care worldwide. While still a college undergraduate, he invented the first wearable infusion pump, which rapidly gained acceptance from such diverse medical specialties as chemotherapy, neonatology, and endocrinology. In 1976, he founded his first medical device company, AutoSyringe, Inc., to manufacture and market the pumps. At age 30, he sold that company to Baxter Healthcare Corporation. By then, he had added a number of other infusion devices, including the first wearable insulin pump for diabetics.
Following the sale of AutoSyringe, Inc., he founded DEKA Research & Development Corporation to develop internally generated inventions as well as to provide research and development for major corporate clients. Kamen led DEKA's development of the HomeChoiceTM peritoneal dialysis system for Baxter International Inc. The HomeChoiceTM system allows patients to be dialyzed in the privacy and comfort of their home and quickly became the worldwide market leader. Kamen also led the development of technology to improve slide preparation for the CYTYC (now Hologic Inc.) ThinPrep® Pap Test. Kamen-led DEKA teams have also developed critical components of the UVARTM XTSTM System, an extracorporeal photophereisis device marketed by Therakos, a unit of Johnson & Johnson, for treatment of T-Cell lymphoma. An advanced prosthetic arm in development for DARPA should advance the quality of life for returning injured soldiers. Other notable developments include the HydroflexTM surgical irrigation pump for C.R. Bard, the CrownTM stent, an improvement to the original Palmaz-Schatz stent, for Johnson & Johnson, the iBOTTM mobility device, and the Segway® Human Transporter.
Kamen has received many awards for his efforts. Notably, Kamen was awarded the National Medal of Technology in 2000. Presented by President Clinton, this award was in recognition for inventions that have advanced medical care worldwide, and for innovative and imaginative leadership in awakening America to the excitement of science and technology. Kamen was also awarded the Lemelson-MIT Prize in 2002, and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in May 2005. He is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical & Biological Engineering, and has been a member of the National Academy of Engineering since 1997.
In 2010, Dean hosted the Planet Green television series Dean of Invention.

Peter Leyden is the perfect person to tell this big-picture story that connects many disparate fields. His career has tracked the different stages of this unfolding story. Leyden deeply understands the technology and new media, having served as managing editor of the original Wired magazine that introduced the digital revolution to the world and that pioneered the early online world of the web. Out of that experience, he co-authored the book The Long Boom, a History of the Future, 1980-2020, which was translated into half a dozen languages.
Leyden gets the economics and business, having worked for years at Global Business Network, a pioneering think tank on future trends and a high level strategy consulting firm that advises many top global corporations. While there, he co-authored the book What’s Next, Exploring the New Terrain for Business, on what to expect in the 10 years after the September 11th attack.
Leyden understands the globalized world, particularly Asia, having worked as a special correspondent for Newsweek magazine in Asia, including doing stories in China just after the Tiananmen Square massacre. He also has traveled to more than 50 countries in all major regions of the world, including Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Leyden recently has focused much of his energy on politics, having just finished several years as director of the New Politics Institute, a think tank that helps people in politics understand the emerging new technologies, new media, and the new demographic reality of America. He is based in San Francisco, where he lives with his wife and 15-year-old daughter, but he spends much time in Washington, DC, where, among other things, he has twice addressed the Democratic Caucus of the US House of Representatives, as well as the Democratic Caucus of the US Senate.
Leyden has a master’s degree in comparative politics as well as a masters in journalism from Columbia University, and did his undergraduate work at Georgetown University, where he graduated summa cum laude.

In January 2012, AT&T launched the mHealth platform, a solution created in the Foundry. Dave McNamara is an industry veteran with more than 36 years of experience in product development for high-volume automotive applications – safety, infotainment and telematics. Alexis Ohanian, Co-Founder, Reddit

Schroeder leads AFB’s efforts to improve services and policies for people with vision loss, legislative and public policy, research and demographic trends, training for service providers, and efforts to improve access to information and communication technology. He also oversees AFB’s comprehensive Web-based technology magazine, AccessWorld: Technology and People Who are Blind or Visually Impaired and is actively involved in strategic planning, budget preparation and organization policy setting.
Throughout his career, he has worked for coalition building, collaboration and constructive dialog around disability issues. He was vice chair for the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities and chair for the Alliance for Public Technology. He helped organize strategic action efforts including the Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technology (COAT) and the Reading Rights Coalition. His work with COAT led to the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act.
Schroeder is known for fostering greater access to mobile phones and other mainstream technology and was a leading advocate in the successful effort to amend the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to improve access to textbooks for students who are blind or visually impaired.

Jake Sigal mashed up music and tech to make Livio. He quit his XM product management gig at Delphi at the age of 26, vowing to do things differently. Bolstered by a $10,000 loan from his parents, he combined his two passions, engineering and music, and started Livio in 2008 from the guest bedroom of his home in Ferndale, MI.

Before he set the consumer electronics world on fire with his innovations, Sigal earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering at Ohio University. He now sits on the university’s Russ College of Engineering Board of Advisors. He is also a board member of the Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA)® Board of Industry Leaders (BIL) and the Small Business Council (SBC).
