LATEST SURVEY CONFIRMS COMPUTERS AS TOP ITEM FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL SALES TAX HOLIDAY
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) applauds the enactment of computer-inclusive sales tax holidays in New Mexico and Tennessee. For the sixth year, several states will be holding tax-amnesty events that include computers and related products, such as printers and monitors, bringing the tally of states that have created such a program to ten.

New Survey: Computers a Top Item for Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday
A new survey confirms that computers are seen as an important staple for students returning to school and finds this view is particularly true for parents of junior high and high school students. The third annual survey, 2004 Back to School Computer Report, released by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), finds that three-quarters (74%) of all Americans believe it is important for children to have access to a home computer and half (49%) believe it is "very important." Those with 12-17 year olds feel even more strongly (84%), with 63% saying it is "very important" for kids to have access to a home computer.
