Event Public Relations Intern


The Consumer Electronics Association has an exciting opportunity for an Event Public Relations Intern. A successful candidate will provide general PR support for the CEA Communications Department, specifically the Event PR team, working on projects surrounding the International CES and CEA events.

Critical Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Build and maintain media and contact lists for CES and CEA events, campaigns and programs. Assist department managers with the transition of media list data into in-house database. 
  • Draft, assemble and coordinate content for the press events section of CESweb.org.
  • Assemble press kits and other materials for CES and CEA events, campaigns and programs.
  • Assist with industry promotional campaigns, including media pitching, drafting supporting materials and other duties as assigned.
  • Help write press releases and newsletter/website content.
  • Draft blog entries for CEA's blog, Digital Dialogue.
  • General administrative duties as needed by the Communications Department.

Work Experience:

  • Previous communications experience is desirable, but not required.
  • Must have excellent writing, editing and verbal communications skills, plus a proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to perform well under deadline and manage multiple tasks. 

Education/Training:

  • The ideal candidate should have completed or be working towards a college degree in public relations, communications or journalism. 
  • This person should be an enthusiastic team player, highly motivated and have an interest in public relations and communications. 

Additional Information: 

  • This is an unpaid internship.  CEA is willing to pair with universities for course credit. 
  • Duration of this internship is from June through August 2010.
