The relationship between the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ranks among the more critical facets of the association's obligations to represent and protect the interests of its 2,200 member companies.
To maintain our position as the voice of the consumer technology industry, CEA is looking for someone who has extensive knowledge of and has worked on communications and consumer electronics regulatory issues. The Senior Director and Regulatory Counsel reports to the Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and is responsible for developing and overseeing CEA legal strategy and filings on consumer electronics issues before the Federal Communications Commission. Candidates for this position should possess a law degree, have experience dealing with or working at the Federal Communications Commission, and a passion for the consumer electronics industry.
You will be responsible for: • Developing, reviewing and coordinating CEA's legal, regulatory and policy strategy before the Federal Communications Commission. • Developing and drafting filings before the FCC and other regulatory bodies, as necessary. • Representing CEA before the FCC, other regulatory bodies and Capitol Hill. • Providing oversight on CEA legal matters. • Coordinating efforts to attract FCC and other high level government officials to the International CES. • Speaking on professional panels to increase CEA's visibility on policy issues. • Leading small teams as necessary.
Education/Training: Undergraduate degree in business, government or related field preferred; law degree required.
As our ideal candidate you will possess outstanding oral and written communication skills; excellent public speaking skills; ability to build consensus; strategic planning capabilities; and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. In addition, you’ll have at least 8-10 years of professional experience in law, on the Hill or other public policy positions.
